Back in 1998 I used to be a photographer, and absolutely loved it. But then I discovered Getty and saw my work value-less… and it killed me. I stopped shooting and didn’t pick up a camera for 8 years. It wasn’t until I came to work for the National Geographic that I rediscovered what I lost, and found a way to make make media work in the “new media” world.

This has been an amazing (if grueling experience) and we’ve come out of it better, stronger, with many more connections and experience than we went in with. Working with DC entrepreneurs has been inspiring and the deep-dives with the Founder Institute Mentors has been invaluable.
What started as 35 entrants, ended up with about 10 Graduates – the hardcore few.

The Manifesto
Everyone says the internet has the power to change the world. Maybe. But for the better or the worse? Old argument I know. The fact is that internet is a tool, I think one of the most powerful tools ever created, but tools don’t change lives – people using tools change lives. So I am hereby committed to doing so, and I hope that you, whoever you are, will join me.
Alea iacta est (aka the post that started it all)
So it begins.
It is 9:04pm, I am sitting in a Pakistani restaurant on the outskirts of Washington DC somewhat overloaded with turkish coffee, shisha smoke, and arabic music… and deciding to try and change the world.
